A Fantástica Carpintaria

A Fantástica Carpintaria (The Amazing Woodworking Shop) is a creative recycling space that combines design, economics, woodworking and urbanism, among other practices related to sustainability. This space is linked to @cidadequintal, an organization that works to transform spaces and catalyze positive actions in the city since 2014. Focused on urban circularity, we believe in the possibility of reinserting plastic waste from communities back into their territories of origin, by creating designs that meet the community’s demands. In our Lab we currently have a team foi seven people operating a cold press and an oven. We manufacture plastic planks to create urban furniture, textile products made with plastic bags, such as accessories and purses, as well as other products made with the reuse of different materials, in addition to plastic. We also carry out educational activities. For continuous improvements for processes and materials, we establish partnerships and straighten bonds with other organizations and educational institutions. These connections enable the participation of researchers, professionals and students as an extension of their academic practices, in addition to testing processes, cataloging materials and developing production methods that can become new products and services.
