Hello everyone, I hope you’re all doing well! I’m working on my Master’s research project, exploring how to combine PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoate, a biodegradable plastic) with biochar to create more sustainable composite materials. I’ve reached the stage where I need to mix the two materials using a twin-screw extruder to get an even dispersion before pressing the mixture into sheets. The PHA I’m using has a melting point of about 132 °C, with a processing window around 150–160 °C. I am quite new to working with polymers but I think a lab-scale co-rotating twin-screw extruder would be perfect. If anyone might have access to a twin-screw compounding extruder, or knows of a lab, facility, or contact who could help, I’d be so grateful to connect. Even advice or insight from anyone who’s worked with PHA before would mean a lot! Chloe
