Download & Send to manufactuer

To build this machine you'll need to have access to or know someone that can do: - Lathe work. - Laser cutting. - Welding (Frame, hopper and handle). You can also go for other alternatives, like making them in wood or other materials. - General metalworking (tapping, sanding, cutting, painting, tolerance adjusting). In the download kit you'll find: - All the laser cut files (.dxf) - Axis blueprints (.pdf) - Assembly Manual (.pdf) You'll also need to get different fixings that are indicated in the Assembly manual as well as x4 bearings ref. 6005-ZZ GPZ Note: The laser cut files contain the following information: [name]_[material]_[thickness]_[quantity] Make sure to communicate this to your laser cut supplier.

3

Clean the parts & adjust the tolerances

Before assembling you'll need to use a metal file or Dremel to adjust the tolerances of the blades and spacers, this step was included intentionally to ensure the blades fit perfectly. This applies to all components that slide through the axis and bearings *Pro tip: start by sanding down the laser cut mark.

4

Assemble & Test it!

We've created a step by step assembly manual to guide you through the assembly process. After completing the assemble to the machine, make sure to screw it/ bolt it to a steady workbench before you start shredding. Since this machines is manually operated, it's designed to shred small items such as bottle caps or thin walled plastic objects. We always recommend to cut the bigger objects into smaller pieces before shredding, this will make it easier to process.

Machine assembly instructions

1. First start by taking the 2 axis. 2. Then place the 5 mm termination rings on each axis. 3. And secure them with M8x20 bolts and washers

6

Machine assembly instructions

4. Then slide one 6mm spacer on each axis. 5. Install 2 bearing adapters in each of the four bearings. 6. Insert one assembly on each axis.

7

Machine assembly instructions

7. Slide in a bearing protection for both bearings. 8. Add a 1,5mm spacer on each side. 9. Add: 3*11 teeth gears on the short axis 3*13 teeth gears on the long axis (make sure all the teeth of the gears are aligned).

8

Machine assembly instructions

10. Slide in the small axis a 1,5mm spacer + 6mm spacer + 1,5mm spacer + 5mm spacer. 11. Slide in the long axis a 1,5mm spacer + 6mm spacer + 1mm spacer. 12. Now insert the middle wall.

9

Machine assembly instructions

13. In your kit you’ll find 2 different sets of blades: 9* With an extra hole in one of the inner corners (A). 8* Without this extra hole (B). 14. Insert one blade (A) on the long axis 15. Then one (B) on the short axis

10

Machine assembly instructions

16. Add one 6mm spacer on each side 17. Continue until both axis are filled: x8 blades on the small one and x9 on the long one. There 2 types of blade, allowing and 30° offset, so you can play with different configurations. 18. We recommend to alternate the 2 types of blades on each axis, and rotate them by 60 degrees each time to create 2 spirals. Finish with 1mm spacer on the long axis.

11

19. And 5mm + 1,5mm spacers on the small axis 20. Add x1 bearing protection per axis 21. Add x1 bearing assembly per axis.

12

Machine assembly instructions

22. 1* 6mm spacer on the small axis 5* 6mm spacer on the long axis. 23. And close the axis with the termination rings and the M8x20 bolts (note that at this point it is not possible to tighten the long axis yet, as the handle comes last). 24. Insert the front and back walls (2 plates per walls, note that the wall with the M5 thread needs to be on the outside). Make sure the bearings are flushed to the outside walls.

13

Machine assembly instructions

25. Install the fixed blades, holding them together with the M10x160 bolts (don't tighten them yet!) 26. Install the side walls. 27. Install the top and bottom plates. But before doing so, we recommend to add some thick grease to the gears.

14

Machine assembly instructions

28. Then secure the box with the M8x90 bolts and M8 lock nuts. Tighten these bolts just enough so the top and bottom plate do not bend. 29. The M10x160 can now be tighten with spanners or wrenches. Do this only after making sure no blades are clashing with the fixed blades. 30. Install the bearing protection using x4 M5x8mm bolts per protection. (Note: your bearings should be flush with the walls, otherwise when installing this protection you’ll press against them and will be hard to rotate the handle and you can damage them in the long run).

15

Machine assembly instructions

31. Take out the axis termination bolt and x1 6mm spacer. 32. Install the handle. 33. Finally, put back the x1 6mm spacer and the axis termination bolt and washer and and secure it in place.
