1

CNC the mould

Once you've downloaded the files the first step is to CNC your mould. All files can be found in the download.

2

Prepare the plastic

We like to use PP to make the NOGGLES but feel free to experiment with other types of plastic. Once you have your plastic you have to: 1) Sort the clean plastic by type and color. 2) Shred it :) 3) Prepare the colors you want to use!

3

Inject

Once you have the mold and plastic ready is time to inject! 1) Turn on your injection machine and bring it to the right temperature 180c 2) Meanwhile prepare & place your mould in the injection machine 3) Feed your plastic in the machine. 4) Inject the plastic into the mould. 5) Voila, you have your recycled frame ♥️

Assemble the glasses

After removing the frame pieces from the mould it's time to do some finishing work to get your NOGGLES ready. 1) First remove the excess of plastic from the injection 2) Assemble the glasses frame. 3) Test the NOGGLES

Hello Precious Plastic and Easymoulds! What a super cool project this is! I would love to replicate the moulds but I have a few questions. I hope you can help :) 1. I opened the .step files with fusion and it seems that the inserts for the hinges aren't separate bodies. This way, it's impossile to machine. How do I do this? 2. What kind of hinges and glasses do I need and where do I get them? I can't seem to find this information anywhere.. 3. How do I insert the glasses once I have them? The mould doen't seem to make a groove or something in the frame. I don't think we're gluing right? Hope you can help and thanks a lot for all the work you put in!! Warm wishes, Anne-MayShow more

Can't wait to get my hands on this project. My question is how was the Temple assembled?

Hi, as mentioned by Anne-May, please redo the step files to separate actual hinges and screws, right now the hinge side of the frame mould is impossible to machine, and would be impossible to separate the injected part (screw trap, not sure how to resolve that part!), and the temples mould, where the hinges later go, also have an impossible to machine area; I guess that there would requiere an insert where the hinge is later positioned (https://ibb.co/2vwBPYq)... also, the insert itself overlaps the other mould, so at the moment, even if where separate parts, it is impossible to close the mould with insert placed...? https://ibb.co/hWv5DMp Also, a complete How-to would also indicate where to obtain the correctly sized hinges for this design (link please), and also the lenses.. and the lenses at the moment, as mentioned above, have no groove, in fact, there is a tongue instead of a groove..? https://ibb.co/jzg09qm this should be the other way (indented instead of exdented..?) to form a groove where to insert the lenses??Show more

Hi Anne and Andy to get back to your questions: 1.) Depends pretty much on the machine and tolerances you can do. So you can easily seperate the inserts in the CAD file and modify them that they are machinable on your CNC machine. 2.) Sourcing: Glasses: Custom made by Fuyuanda Optical Technology LTD., CO. We went this way because we needed a larger quantity made and all our local opticians were not interested in that. But basically every local optician can do these grooves into the lenses. Hinges: Inflex by Obe Präzision 3.) The glasses are sourced with a CNC machined groove inside them. This is way easier to do, than modify the frame afterwards. Otherwise around you can injection mould grooves in lenses or frames. That methods usually find place if you are looking for quantities north of 10-100k units. Overall this is more of an inspirational How To. You can replicate it as given, but my intention for sharing was more to transfer a general idea of how to design a piece like that so others can create their own designs based on the design details included here.Show more

What are the mold measurements? What size of useful area is recommended to be able to fix the aluminum block to be machined on the CNC table? What precision or tolerance does the CNC need to be to achieve a good finish on the mold?
